Preliminary Naval Architecture

The preliminary naval architecture is essential in developing the design for either the Owner’s requirements or validating the design for a tendering Yard's quotation process. We ensure that any contractual irequirements are achievable within the design documentation, general arrangement, specification and the Owner’s wishes.

At this critical stage we ensure that the project is feasible, with checks on initial parameters including; principal dimensions, speed, range, weight, stability and Class and Flag issues.

The preliminary naval archictecture is essential for either the Owner’s team or Yard to be confidant that the foundations of the project are based on sound engineering design.

A selection of services are outlined below and can be tailored to meet specific requirements.

  • Initial parameter checks
  • Weight estimates
  • Hull and appendage design
  • Performance prediction
  • Speed and range calculations
  • Specification development and review
  • Class and Flag compliance
  • Intact and damage stability assessment
  • Sea keeping analysis and optimisation
  • Initial scantling review
  • Small scale tank testing
